522 - Non Fungible Tones with Ryan Burke from 60 Cycle Hum!
Brian and Richard are joined by Ryan Burke for Episode 522 of the Chasing Tone PodcastBlake is out of town on string business so the guys are joined by Ryan Burke of 60 Cycle hum and his haunted mannequin...yes, you read that correct. This naturally means there is some offset guitar insight - 'offsight' if you will - and Ryan has great advice for anyone weighing up their options. Do you collect pedals as an investment? The guys chat about the ramifications of where the collectable pedal market is going and then of course try to accurately predict the future and along the way they invent a new form of musical currency. Richard has a pedal related confession to make and Brian is thinking about Germanium hearing aids.Ryan has a box full of Afford-a-board pedals and tells us about some of the fun discoveries he has made. Somehow this transitions into a conversation about soccer, surfing, and then of course, surf music and skateboarding! This is a very funny episode despite some lag issues so get your laughing gear on! Noodle and flutter, Player II Fenders, Tone Detective, Rabbit Trails, The PRS of waves...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://modyourownpedal.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the Show.

Meanwhile Fender have launched their new Player II range of guitars and our good buddy Travis Feaster got to be part of the launch so we talk about that before looking at some more band practice woes.Blake ducks out early because apparently he like his job, so Brian and Richard fumble on through the subjects...and Brian becomes audibly aroused at a new Gibson special edition.  This turns into a discussion about how good quality guitar gear is so much more affordable these days and then Richard inadvertently gives Brian a new idea and immediately regrets it. Brian then invents the greatest app ever. The Grecian toe, Crab Amps, Chord dis-remembrance, Gorilla amps, Pedalboard choices, Power supply knowledge...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! Thanks to all our supporters - you are awesome! 520 - The Birthday Roast of Brian Wampler and new guitar day!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 520 of the Chasing Tone Podcast Our glorious leader has reached a milestone birthday and the chaps kick off by looking back at the Roast video that the team at Wampler put together for him. Richard notes an interesting horological coincidence and Brian gives us his views on aging. In a twist of pure Irony, Brian is struggling to find a compressor, and the guys listen to his tales of woe.Have you got any Tube based drive pedals? In a bizarre twist of fate Brian has decide to educate Richard on the best way to get the "Classic" David Gilmour tone and there is some ill advised political commentary as Richard reviews a recent piece of marketing from a political party. Blake has had some unexpected musical adventures and tells us all about it. Richard has taken delivery of a lifetime's supply of spices and Brian has a request. He also went to see Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets with his schoolfriend and gave pedals to the band. This leads onto a discussion about a very high end delay pedal that commands a premium price. There is a very scary AI credit read from RoboBrian. Bob Ross, Luggable Computers, Fancy Components, Palm Bay guitars, Siri Threepio, Rockonteurs ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! Thanks to all our supporters - you are awesome! We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://modyourownpedal.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the Show.

519 - Why you should always record yourself playing...
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 519 of the Chasing Tone Podcast Ai has finally gone to far and we have an Ai version of Brian and it causes some emotional distress. Brian also has a rubber device. Richard tells us about his first experience with IRs and IEMs in a band practice scenario. It was a a partial success. Richard also has purchased new gear, has learned some important new lessons, and Brian continues to hellishly rebuke him. We've had some really interesting suggestions for 1980's themed shredding guitars and Richard talks about some of the candidates and it provokes reactions from Brian. Brian then makes some gangland confessions. There's a new Fender artist Telecaster and it has caught the guys' attention so they talk about it before revealing some interesting statistical facts about Brian;'s pedalbuilding career.  What do you think about companies that make completely identical pedals to the original they're based on? There was a release this week that was close to home and the guys all have reactions. David Gilmour released a new track and Richard is a big fan. Take a shot. The guys had a message from the listeners about modern Country music and have some suggestions for artists to listen to. 518 - The Power of Fuzz Compels You!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 518 of the Chasing Tone Podcast Blake has been standing to work for a long time and it is energizing him so the guys discuss the merits of office furniture. Yes, you read that correctly.  This turns into a conversation about how you apply Tolex correctly as Richard thinks about building his own amplifier.  Do you wait before you switch on the stand-by switch on your amplifier? The guys ponder this age old question.Richard invokes a hellish rebuke from Brian when he tries to convince him that MIDI is the future for amplifier control and a robust and bizarre conversation ensues.  Richard has been thinking about digital modelling and Brian is not happy with him, but he and Blake also have some new gear and it somehow involves the Insane Clown Posse.  Richard is also worried about taking his favorite combo amplifier to gigs until his personal amp tech intervenes... What size pick do you use when you play guitar? This question provokes a variety of responses from the chaps and Brian desires a new sponsorship.  Speaking of Brians, Brian May has just made a not particularly surprising announcement about a collaboration with Gibson. Richard makes bizarre confessions about his follicular obsessions. He is a mean and awful person and tries to explain British humor - badly. Chair Rugs, Pain and Anguish, Synergy IICP, Rivera Chubster 55, Secret Aardvark, Blue Chip Picks, Guitar Auctions ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Meanwhile Richard has a new hat and it is magnificent. Well, maybe it isn't but he loves it. He is also having middle aged band related problems and he shares them with us all.The guys look at 1980's style guitars and weigh up the differences between the main contenders - Charvel, Jackson, Ibanez...and Kramer.  What's the correct number of pickups on a guitar for you? The guys don't know which way they fall on this - seemingly they simultaneously want one or three pickups - and Brian manages to steer the conversation to the guitar he wants.Richard has a new amplifier from the fine chaps at ENGL and he is very happy and tells us all about it and Brian is not impressed with something Richard suggests and makes his feelings known before wondering if this maybe one of the greatest amps in the World?  Richard gets confused by the special special edition. Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by the legendary Jay Leonard J for Episode 514 of the Chasing Tone PodcastWe start off with some exclusive hair clipping tips from the super talented Jay Leonard J and this eventually turns into a discussion about gain clipping and Wampler's latest release, the Wampler Mofetta. Brian had an idea one day. He loved the Ibanez MT-10 Mostortion but wondered what would happen if he used MOSFETS for clipping. The Mofetta is the culmination of his rumination!  Brian asks Jay about his creative process when it comes to pedal demos and he gives us an awesome candid insight into his flow. Is the Tubescreamer the ultimate wingman pedal? Jay thinks so and has a compelling case to consider and Blake is in an educating mood. Are you a fan of the Beach Boys? A number of cool products were released in the last week that were officially licensed by the Beach Boys and the guys discuss them. Richard asks Jay about his musical career and he tells us a wonderful tale of how it all began with a special guitar. Jay takes us on an international journey with his early career before he tells us about how an unconventional piece of equipment became part of his demo rig and how he became a stunt double for the top martial artist in Hong Kong. You are not going to want to miss this episode, Jay is hilarious and hugely interesting, and he joins us on Patreon too for some amazing stories that involve international diplomatic peril!  Shaving heads, Brian is awesome, Blake is a heathen, Richard Rants, Baby monitors, Album release news, Velvet Fuzz...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Brian, Max, and Richard are back for Episode 513 of the Chasing Tone PodcastOur good buddy Max is back once again, as Blake is out of town on important string business, and he has a new job which causes some speculation before the guys chat about the gear they have been gassing over. Richard attempts to describe a form of small British boat and Brian is most confused by both Richard and Artificial Intelligence. David Gilmour is going on tour and the British King of Fuzz tries to get tickets - and this leads to a discussion about ticket prices, free pedals, and naughty romps. Richard has been sent a pedal as a gift from an old friend and tells us all about it and he also has a theory about the re-release of a certain pedal. He is of course wrong. Max and Brian discuss the classic Danelectro pedals and reflect on the used market for them and Richard has fallen in love with the new Thorpy FX WOPR purely for aesthetic reasons. Do you use an attenuator with your amplifier? The guys discuss the pros and cons of a few different models. 512 - Is this the most stupid guitar invention ever?
Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by Scott from Stringjoy for Episode 512 of the Chasing Tone PodcastBrian is ready to welcome you all to the Tone Chasing show and this week the guys are joined by Scott from Stringjoy. Richard makes some 1980's related costume confessions and he may have found "his look". Brian has demands and Richard has requests. Scott knows all of Blake's deep dark secrets and is also annoyingly young and intelligent.  Have you ever owned a guitar with removable pickups? Richard comes up with possibly the most stupid idea he has ever had and then doubles down with more foolishness. This leads into a discussion about the new Gun Street Wiring solder free switchgear. Richard gets nostalgic about car radios. Brian makes outrageous claims about owning a plastic slide and Richard is suspicious. It would be madness not to ask Scott some guitar string related questions, but this is the Chasing Tone podcast and there are more pressing matters. That said, we do get some good insight into tips for re-stringing guitars, taking care of your guitars, and not breaking strings like an oaf. Brian tells Scott about the story of Bryan Burke and Richard opens up a conversation about guitar manufacturing locations. We then get more sensible with the Scott questions and there are some awesome string related nuggets of wisdom.  Mammoth, Pirates, Bluetooth speakers, Allman Brothers, Amazon detectives, Even a blind squirrel is right twice a day, Dopplegangers, Sire...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! Thanks to all our supporters - you are awesome! We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Course, Merch and DIY mods:https://www.guitarpedalcourse.com/https://modyourownpedal.com/Find us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comMad Makings of MusicTwo generations, one love: Music. 511 - Brian breaks out a surprise pedal and it is smoochie time!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 511 of the Chasing Tone PodcastBrian makes a case for playing with his toys and not throwing them out of his sandbox - and gives us a sneaky listen into a new product he is working on. In completely unrelated news, our good buddy Jordan over at Poison Noises has made a new Reverb and Delay pedal and Richard loves the finish he picked for it. This leads Brian to reminisce wistfully.Richard asks an important question about knob labeling and the guys debate it momentarily before Richard makes an awkward confession. He also tells us about how sometimes testing pedals can be a bit too enjoyable. Synergy have made a new module, the DRECT which is based on "that" high end Californian sound and the guys then talk about some of their favorite amps and Brian gets instant GAS.  There was an early leak of a pedal and the guys skirt around it rapidly before reflecting on the sad news that Dickie Betts from the Allman brothers had passed away. There was a recent article about how male dominated the guitar world was and the guys dig in to it and on the way Richard discovered a new artist to get into. 510 - The amazing Stringboy and the greatest guitar pedal ever?
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 510 of the Chasing Tone PodcastBrian is in a special new place...or not...and apologies are made for his button pressing as a world record is set and we talk about the world's crankiest Englishman. Said Englishman has questions about IEMs and he asks for a reasoned debate and he gets some, and some unreasoned debate.  Someone threw terrible boomer based accusations and Richard has familial drum machine excitement. Brian and Richard found a tweet relating to Chumbawumba and it made them both giggle muchly and a hero of the week is elected. Do you know what the greatest guitar pedal (yet to be released) is? The guys stumbled upon a series of new guitar pedals and discuss them at length. Brian gives away pedal company secrets.Fender have come up with an interesting color choice for a limited run release, they also have a new Tom Delonge signature Starcaster, and the guys have split opinions - shock horror! Richard makes some Coke confessions.  Brian lies about lack of GAS and Blake has tax woes. Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 509 of the Chasing Tone PodcastMartinsville Lulu meets Portland Grunge and it is all the fault of solar activity as Brian experiences totality and Richard experiences Indianapolis live. The guys discuss their various eclipse experiences and there is some general foolishness all round. Oh boy, it's a wild episode I warn you now. Brian shows off his cool guitar slide which makes for some unique and riveting audio material and Richard had his head turned by some LED infused guitar picks and a "herb" grinder shaped like a tone pot. He also finds a new style of headstock tuner. Meanwhile our good friends over at Keeley FX have had some pedal name change drama and we speculate upon why despite being bereft of informed or intelligent opinions.Kiss have sold their back catalogue and the guys discuss the implications of the impending holographic mega tours that may now become a reality. Richard has some news about his potential band which is not called Think Ployd. He has observations and Brian gives some great advice to anyone who's thinking of joining a band...and some barely average advice too. Blake spreads some GAS. 508 - The Wampler Rockstortion pedal - is it real?
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 508 of the Chasing Tone PodcastIt's podcast day, and Brian has avoided being sucked into a funnel cloud, so we start the episode of with an extra dose of frivolity and nonsensical mutterings. There is camping talk and weather talk and Richard campaigns for moderate weather conditions. Wampler Pedals made a social media post involving Brian's take on the infamous Rockman and the guys chat about how it was created. There were some great April fool's gags this year and the guys talk about some of their favorites and Blake tells us all about the one he was involved in for Gun Street Wiring. Richard makes an apology. There was a question submitted to the guys about buffers and the guys go deep into the weeds with it, the importance of impedance, and other general nerd topics. Brian redefines important technical terms.Richard is a little nervous about an upcoming band rehearsal so distracts himself by talking about his pedalboard and the choices he made. Somehow this ends up back at a chat about the Rockman sound again and Brian makes musical impersonations. Blake shows Brian some vintage Bucket Brigade chips and he gets very excited. There's been some controversy with some deepfaking of guitar impresario and UFO enthusiast Rob Chapman and the guys debate it.Mullets aplenty, Cusack's jacks, Squelch, Harley Benton, Agnes Obel, The Specials  ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

507 - The JHS Tacobolt and has Brian discovered the perfect reverb???
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 507 of the Chasing Tone Podcast Brian opens up in his own inimitable yet peanut buttery smooth manner and a certain guitarist makes a telephone call to the studio as we open up with some low brow shenanigans and hot takes. Richard has been bowled over by a famous guitarist and gushes lovingly about them before talking about an extreme case of buyers remorse. Can you listen to instrumental guitar music while working? The guys discuss the fact that they all differ slightly when it comes to music choices while concentrating and this naturally turns into a conversation about boy racers and loud exhausts. Richard has seen an amusing rockumentary TV show and the Brian and Blake immediately dismiss him as an idiot.  Our buddy Josh over at JHS released a limited edition of the Superbolt and the guys chat about it and some potential customisation options that may or may not make people on the internet angry. There was a report recently about the values of different vintage guitars and so the guys discuss it. 506 - Brian said this one thing and the internet blew up
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 506 of the Chasing Tone Podcast! There  is an unharmonious introduction to this episode and Richard finds the weirdest thing to be envious of and Brian admits to ramping up his plugging. Richard was surprised to learn that one of his favorite bands didn't make it big in the US during the lifespan of their lead singer and this leads onto a debate about awesome tones. And Guinness. And Blake's weird sausage based memories. Brian has been doing a bit of a press work and a couple of his articles and podcasts got spun out of all proportion on the internet - would you believe it? The Internet going crazy? Never. He breaks down what happens via a conversation concerning male pattern baldness. Germanium may get a mention. In a surprising revelation we discover that Brian Wampler doesn't set the rules for the global second hand market.Have you ever played Fortnite? Well if so you can now go and jam with official Fender instruments in a "Guitar Hero" type sub game and the guys discuss the clever marketing tactics that the big F have employed. Brian wants to put Wampler Pedals into the game.  Richard has a stupid idea about guitar strings and invents the slide-o-matic neck and the guys debate whether they would ever spend $50k on a guitar.  Stick poking, Matey boy, King Flippy, Strange water fixation, the Gibson Theodore, Synyster Gates ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone! Thanks to all our supporters - you are awesome! We are on Patreon now too!Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/chasingtonepodcast)Awesome Merch and DIY mods:https://modyourownpedal.com/collections/booksFind us at:https://www.wamplerpedals.com/https://www.instagram.com/WamplerPedals/https://www.facebook.com/groups/wamplerfanpage/Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdVrg4Wl3vjIxonABn6RfWwContact us at: podcast@wamplerpedals.comSupport the Show.

505 - The POD Express, a modified Jen Fuzz, and why guitar magazines are still relevant
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 505 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!  Brian questions Richard's commitment, and Richard questions Brian's fashion choices before regaling us with more royal tales of DIY pedal construction. Brian teaches Richard about what he made without making him feel more stupid than he already does. Kinda. He also tells us about how he made the enclosure and broke a rule but he is very happy with the result. Brian has a genius hack. Richard was on the Guitar Dads podcast the day the new Line 6 POD Go express was launched and it's got him thinking whilst Brian sweeps for mines and shares his views on the aesthetics. There is some discussion abut the history of Line 6 hardware with the fabled Guitarport and an important lesson from history. Richard apologizes for his transgressions in a previous episode and struggles to speak coherently. Do you still buy guitar magazines? The guys talk about why they think printed magazines are still more than relevant today and you may be surprised by their views. Brian answers some questions about the Ego 76 so if you have bought one, you might wanna hear what he has to say. As a bonus you can also hear the guys try and explain the differences between FET and  optical compressors without sending Blake to sleep.  Reeves Electro x Fuzzdog, The Guitar Dads, Voltron's underwear, Scotland Yard, Philly blunts...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

504 - The Wampler Ego 76 and the best demo ever?
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 504 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!Blake has been drinking from the special cabinet again and Richard is contemplating a new hobby and thinks he saw one of the best demos he has ever seen for the new Ego 76. Brian learns a new technique for equipment usage and it shatters his mind. Richard tells us of how he recently reconnected with someone who was also making DIY pedals and reflects upon legendary tales of yore. You don't need a bicycle if you have a horse according to our friend from Portland, and Richard laments Brian's recent decisions and tries to shut him up. The industry reacts to the death of the Bob Heil, inventor and innovator, and the guys look back a little at his legacy and his most famous product, the Heil Talk Box. Epiphone have released an expensive new 335 and the guys are obliged to discuss it in detail and Blake has quite the tale to tell. Richard tries to invent a new game and fails with spectacularly mediocre results. Meanwhile Brian is lusting after amplifiers and manoeuvring skilfully but becomes alarmed at words that fall out of Blake's mouth. There are some bizarre impersonations.  The Iron Horse pub, Peter Frampton, Dave Grohl, Vox guitars, The thickiest, Auction losses, Victory amps ...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

503 - We introduce an all new Wampler Pedal!
Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for episode 503 of the Chasing Tone Podcast!Richard has seen a film about the history of Amplifiers recently and he is dumbstruck that he is the only one of the trio that has even heard of it whilst Brian criticizes his accent. Richard also discusses a large legal issue facing Tik Tok and the use of certain music in their fun data mining social app. This turns into a discussion about AI video creation and a very poor Wonka based experience in Scotland. Wampler are releasing a new pedal and Brian elucidates in a kind of random fashion. He may have leaked this pedal on another podcast recently but with some gentle prodding he goes into great detail. This episode is being released twelve hours before the official release so it's kinda an exclusive for our awesome listeners. Sorta. Kinda. Richard bought an inexpensive new pedal and is super happy.  Do you use a lightweight rig for gigging or do you take your full pedalboard? The guys chat about this common dilemma and Brian makes some suggestions before giving us his best Jon Bon Jovi impression. This show then deteriorates into further silliness as Brian points out this podcast is an organic thing that just needs to be ridden.    Ampire, Parliament Funkadelic, Weiner caps, Negative Ned, Billy and the Butcherman...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!
