Hope springs eternal as Chicago White Sox baseball is finally back. Yes, it's just spring training. Yes, the games don't count. Yes, it might matter very little. It's been a long offseason and baseball is being played, which is enough of a reason to celebrate. The White Sox had a forgettable weekend as they lost their first two games of the Spring. Sox fell to the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend. Lance Lynn got the start for the Sox in Game 1. He went his scheduled three innings and looked comfortable on the mound. Aside from home runs by Jake Burger and Gavin Sheets against the Padres, the White Sox could not get much going offensively in their first two games. Situational hitting was a problem last season but new hitting coach, Jose Castro, is well aware of the struggles and is making it a focus. Andrew Vaughn has some big shoes to fill as he steps out of Jose Abreu's shadow. Vaughn has the right mental approach as he looks to add his name to the long list of legendary White Sox first basemen.
