Growth Is Never a Linear Process [But a Very Messy One]

Please remember one of my top brain tattoos: “All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.”

If mastering a new habit to the point where it becomes automatic and, therefore, easier to do than not to do was super easy, the change you’re trying to make wouldn’t be valuable change.

All brilliant transformations are hard. They force you to reach deep into your gifts and talents and push past fear, doubt and resistance. And as you do this, you build greater self-awareness, about how strong you truly are.

My main point right here though is that growth is never a straight line. It’s more like “stumbling your way to excellence.”

Think about what I call in my teachings “The Stumbling Child Metaphor.” A little kid doesn’t wake up one day and run a marathon.

Nope. They try to walk and fall and get back up and stumble and then try again and get bruised and then keep going until they are experts at walking.

They walk and then they run and then they win.

If you’re seeking some strong inspiration to grow your business and self—along with some novel tools to win—go ahead and read (or listen to) my latest book The Everyday Hero Manifesto. Get it here.
