2023 begins on a very humanitarian note, with Venus moving into community-minded Aquarius on January 2nd. Later that week, an emotional Full Moon in nurturing Cancer is a good time to cherish loved ones and hold them close.
Mid-January is characterized by two important planets turning direct - first Mars ends its lengthy retrograde in Gemini on January 12th, restoring energy and ambition to the full. Then it’s Mercury’s turn to finish its retrograde, on January 18th, boosting communication and clarity of thought.
The Sun moves into Aquarius on January 20th, starting a transit that will be focused on seeking personal freedom. The Aquarius New Moon the following day is an especially auspicious time to begin anything that gives you more independence.
On January 22nd, Uranus turns direct in Taurus - the very last of the planets to end its retrograde, so all planets will then be in direct motion. This is a good time to push ahead with any belated new year projects that you didn’t quite get to grips with earlier in the month.
