Love Persevering: Exploring Grief
25-02-2023
Love Persevering: Exploring Grief
Love Persevering: Exploring Grief“But what is grief if not love persevering?” -Vision (from the Marvel Studios series WandaVision)In this episode will focus on grief. I was inspired for a couple of reasons, the first being that the 12th anniversary of my mom’s passing is approaching as of the release of this episode. Also, I’ve come across a number of people who have been struggling with the idea that their own grief processes are taking longer than others in their lives (in some cases themselves as well) have the patience for. Truth is, when we lose someone close to us, the mourning never fully ends; we simply learn to carry on as we are ready and build around the hole that the loss left in our being. It never does truly fill in, we simply learn to adapt to the hole.Of course grief doesn’t come as a result of death, even though it’s the first thing we naturally think of. But there are grieving processes that result from loss of all kinds. Loss of a home, a job or career, ending of a friendship, even the ending of a way of life as we know it, as we’ve all experienced to some degree in the last couple of years for obvious reasons.Be aware, this episode does contain occasional strong language in the form of occasional cuss words used (would probably fall into a PG-13 or TV-14 rating in the US).This episode of Legion of Misfits is dedicated with love to the memory of Sandra (Ross) Levesque, 1/12/51-4/21/10. Exploring the Masculine
Today’s guest is Logan Nellis. Logan is a Divine Masculine Leader and Coach Inspiring People through Aligned Inner Wisdom, Love, and IntuitionThis was a powerful conversation where we discussed what is meant by Divine Masculinity, what it is and what it is not, and the struggle to find that level and balance. Of course, we need to find balance with the Divine Feminine but we also need to allow our masculine to feel seen and truly explored in order to feel whole.I invite you to listen in with us and to share what comes through for you while listening to our conversation. I only wish it could have been longer because there is so much to discuss on the subject. In Logan’s words…“It is my highest honor, privilege, and excitement to work with men from all walks of life meeting them where they are and as they are while empowering them to step into who they have always wanted to be.Utilizing the body's innate intelligence, we will create access, understanding, and coherence between the mind, body, and soul so that they leave our sessions feeling touched, moved, and inspired to step into their Full Body F-- Yes!!”Connect with Loganvia e-mail: innerwisdomwarriors@gmail.comSchedule a free 30-minute Discovery Session with Logan: https://calendly.com/innerwisdomwarriors/discoveryTo find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit https://misfitsandwanderers.substack.com/Thank you for listening, please like, subscribe and share. (How Does It Feel) When You're Loved

(How Does It Feel) When You're Loved
(Titled with apologies to Van Hagar)Asking the question while motivated by seeing a large amount of heart signs and being reminded that ultimately, when we release all the mental, social, and other junk, all we want is to love and be loved.Which then made me wonder how people knew and felt they were loved. How do you know? How do you feel? What does it look like?Of course, I asked the question on the socials. I'll share some of those responses plus throw in some of my own observations. Would love to hear from you as well:What does it feel like for YOU when YOU KNOW you're loved?Resources:Love (Wikipedia)  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LoveThe Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman https://www.amazon.com/Love-Languages-Secret-that-Lasts/dp/080241270XWhat Are The 5 Love Languages? Remembering Our Humanity
Michelle is a powerful intuitive and medium based in Washington State. She provides readings and workshops and has done speaking engagements where she taps into her gifts to provide clarity and healing for many.Follow Michelle at https://facebook.com/morphingenergeticsTo connect or learn how to work with Michelle, use her email: morphingenergetics@gmail.comMichelle and I talked about a number of different ways we're at a crossroads as a species and as a society. Life has shifted in a permanent way, and we are still in the process of learning what that's supposed to look like. The unknown is scary, and if you find yourself in certain information bubbles, you're primed to be afraid of different things. Our fear is leading us to be unable to see the humanity in each other, especially those who trigger our fears the most. What is that leading to? How can we shift that? What would that even look like? Some questions to ponder:What if at the end of the day we are all just a bunch of scared little kids trying to figure it all out?If we are all equal, then don't we have more power that we give ourselves credit for? What if we shifted that power into building instead of dividing our communities? What if we sought the common ground (and don't believe the news or social media, we all can find common ground) instead of fighting over words and concepts that if we can find solutions to in an overnight if we just cut out those who benefit from…well, this?Thank you for listening, please like, subscribe and shareTo find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit https://misfitsandwanderers.substack.com/To support:Venmo: richlevesque10Cashapp: $richlevesque10 Social links:https://instagram.com/misfitwandershttps://twitter.com/misfitwandershttps://tiktok.com/misfitsandwanderers https://linktr.ee/Misfitsandwanderers The purpose of this episode is simply to inform and offer ideas and possibilities for further exploration. Nightmare By Airline
A tale of a round trip flight that was a no good, bad ,terrible, awful experience. It is also a  tale of celebration. I could have let my emotions take over and made the situation so much worse, and ruined my trip in a number of ways. And yet, I didn't give in at any point. In the losses, I'm taking the win. There are also cameo appearances by "Susan" and "Dude Karen" (with apologies to those named Karen who didn't ask for this and have every right to speak to a manager).Thank you for visiting, please like, subscribe and shareTo find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit To support:Venmo: richlevesque10Cashapp: $richlevesque10Social links:https://instagram.com/misfitwandershttps://twitter.com/misfitwandershttps://tiktok.com/misfitsandwanderershttps://linktr.ee/MisfitsandwanderersThe purpose of this episode is simply to inform and offer ideas and possibilities for further exploration. Lost & Found

Lost & Found
An episode in two parts: "Lost" and "Found"The first segment, the Lost, is about loneliness in the current landscape. Discussing how that, along with pain and fear, are the underlying epidemic not really addressed because we are too busy fighting over how to not treat the assorted symptoms. Those are painful in and of themselves and include the increase in violence, suicides, the struggles with mental and physical health, and of course the toxic social and political landscapes. The second segment comes the "found", in meeting an amazing young lady and learning of her courageous story. Along the way, I managed to find some of what inspires and drives me, and why I write the things and record the podcasts and do all the things. Connection really is a two way street. To find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit https://misfitsandwanderers.substack.com/Thank you for listening, please like, subscribe and share. The Fawn

The Fawn
We learned “fight or flight”, then “freeze”. In this episode we explore “fawn”.Fight, Fight Freeze or Fawn. Our body’s automatic defense mechanisms that activate when the primal mind (in particular the amygdala) senses danger.Fawning is the behavior most of us know as people pleasing. Seeing it as an automatic defense changes the way I looked at it and made me look at a number of things in a different way.I use a tweet string shared with me by a member of the Misfits, Wanderers and the Rest of Us Community. The author of the string is Sam Dylan Finch and the entire string is available here: The book mentioned in the Episode:Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving: A GUIDE AND MAP FOR RECOVERING FROM CHILDHOOD TRAUMA by Pete Walker To find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit https://misfitsandwanderers.substack.com/Thank you for listening, please like, subscribe and share. Emotional Sunburn

Emotional Sunburn
This episode is called "Emotional Sunburn", and it focuses on how for many of us, the understanding that rejection has nothing to do with us and can serve to support us on our path, while true, can be a devastating thing for the brains of many of us to process, and we can not only struggle with regulating emotionally but it can really hold us back with taking steps in all areas of life. While not an official diagnosis (DSM, etc.) it is recognized by many as a neruodivergent symptom known as rejection sensitivity dysmorphia (RSD), in particular with ADHD. It can also be seen as connected to CPTSD as well. Please not that while there are still clearly things that science and medicine have yet to make consistent links with for multiple reasons, what is clear that a number of us are afflicted with this and just for knowing that we aren't the only ones, let's talk about it. Maybe knowing that this is a real thing can help us to know what is going on in the moment and give us just enough to realize that what is happening is something we need to allow to pass rather than react from in the moment. From there, it's information and possibilities that we need to explore further, through research and also through connecting with our medical and mental health professionals to understand our own unique situations.Resources:Living with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoriahttps://neuroclastic.com/living-with-rejection-sensitive-dysphoria/?fbclid=IwAR0ZtxD5iVnNgu3VAg4zCLzIGaks2bt3LccKDUZcrPzJUgUk1HeVznoXl5wIs My Trauma Response RSD, C-PTSD or Bothhttps://themighty.com/2021/06/rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-complex-post-traumatic-disorder-similarities-differences/Person Gives A Spot-On Explanation Of Rejection-Sensitive Dysphoria, Many Are Surprised This ADHD Symptom Has A Namehttps://www.boredpanda.com/adhd-rejection-sensitivity-dysphoria-twitter/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organicEmotional sunburn: What rejection sensitive dysphoria feels like to mehttps://www.understood.org/en/articles/emotional-sunburn-what-rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-feels-like-to-meRejection Sensitive Dysphoria: The link between ADHD and sensitivity to criticism.https://www.drmelissashepard.com/post/rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-the-link-between-adhd-and-sensitivity-to-criticismIs It Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria or Complex Trauma?https://jessemeadows.medium.com/is-it-rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-or-complex-trauma-d9d519b5bb55More Than ‘Thin-Skinned’: Rejection Sensitive Dysphoriahttps://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/more-than-thin-skinned-rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-1130197The Incredible Shrinking World: Life with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoriahttps://yourcontractualobligations.medium.com/the-incredible-shrinking-world-life-with-rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-62f9d08f7cc0How Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria Affects Me as a Person With ADHDhttps://themighty.com/2017/12/rejection-sensitive-dysphoria-adhd-emotional-sensitivity/After recording, I learned that the story from the final segment was actually published in Reader's Digest in 1985 https://www.readersdigest.com.au/podcasts/heart/letter-in-the-walletThe purpose of this episode is simply to inform and offer ideas and possibilities for further exploration. It Starts with Being Seen

It Starts with Being Seen
Feeling seen, feeling understood, feeling like not only other people are truly listening to you, but that you're able to be fully present for yourself. It's a simple act in theory but it can be very hard in practice for a number of reasons. Sometimes the manner somebody is trying to be seen violates boundaries. In other cases it forces us to look at things within ourselves that we quite frankly would rather not. This gets a bit scattered admittedly, but there is so much to this and it is very hard to do any justice in a small amount of time. This involves many hard conversations and a lot of very powerful, difficult work. That work is so important. It's not necessarily the solution to any one thing, of course. But it's the first step to EVERYTHING. Whether it's a universal conflict or an internal struggle. Macro or micro, it's the same.We can't fix anything if we can't understand what we're all seeing. Does it mean we have to agree on what we see? Of course not, we all have different values and life experiences and we will never all see the world the same way. But the openings come when we understand each other and why we see things the way we do.It starts with seeing. It starts with feeling seen.To find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit https://misfitsandwanderers.substack.com/Thank you for listening, please like, subscribe and share. Holding Space for Anger
There’s plenty of reason to feel anger. Certainly, in this current climate.Anger needs to be seen and heard and is a powerful and important teacher. It needs to do its job. But then it needs to be free to be sent on its way. When it overstays its welcome and hijacks our logic and blocks out our consciousness...well, look around. To find more of my content (writing and podcasts) please visit https://misfitsandwanderers.substack.com/Thank you for listening, please like, subscribe and share.
