Benedetta Argentieri is an independent journalist and documentary director. Since 2014 she has been focusing on Iraq and Syria, she covered the ongoing conflict and the feminist struggles with feature articles and feature-length documentaries. Her work has appeared in several international publications, including Reuters, The Sunday Times, Daily Beast, and Sunday Telegraph. In 2019, she co-authored “Io non sono Islam” (I am not Islam), a graphic novel inspired by the story of Islam Mitat a young Moroccan woman whose husband tricked her into the Islamic State. The book is in Italian, and it was published by Salani Nostalgia.In 2018 she directed "I am the Revolution" a documentary about three women fighting for freedom and gender equality in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Rojava North-East Syria. The film which was extremelly well received,  was shown in dozens of festivals around the world, and distributed for tv and educational purposes. In 2016 she co-directed with Bruno Chiaravalloti and Claudio Jampaglia the documentary "Our War", which tells the story of international fighters joining the ranks of YPG in Syria fighting against ISIS, which premiered at the 73 Venice Film Festival. In 2013 she co-produced "Capulcu-Voices of Gezi", a documentary about the revolt that occurred in Gezi Park in Istanbul, Turkey. The film won the Amnesty International award. Previously she worked as a staff writer at Corriere della Sera, the leading Italian newspaper. Argentieri is also a  public speaker, she was also invited to give a talk about “women in war” at the Teld Talk X in Milan. In 2014, she obtained an MA in Journalism, with a concentration in politics, from Columbia University in New York.

SEASON PREMIERELaunching Season 2 and in celebration of Black History Monthy, Miss Sayé interviews the legendary visual artist Danny Simmons, Jr. The pioneer of the NeoAfrican Expression movement and co-founder of Rush Arts Philly, Danny has dedicated his work and his passion to make a difference in the community that he is in. Danny Simmons, Jr., is an American abstract painter from Queens, NY, who once coined his particular style of painting as “neo-African Abstract Expressionism.” Simmons’ visual artworks are held in public collections including The Smithsonian, the United Nations, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Brooklyn Museum, Chase Manhattan Bank, Deutsche Bank, Schomburg Center for Black Culture, along with numerous private collections. Simmons is co-founder along with his siblings, Russell and Joseph Simmons and president of the Rush Arts Gallery. He is also the founder and VP of the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. Recently featured in Black Art in America artist, “Danny Simmons: A Critical Path” by Howard McCalebb.Danny Simmons holds a Bachelor’s degree in social work from New York University, a Masters in public finance from Long Island University, and is the recipient of an honorary PhD from Long Island University. The talented Dave Kim Music joins Miss Saye Yabandeh to talk about his career as an international electric violinist and DJ. Dave has played on stages and in venues around the world, but his life took a scary turn a few years ago when he suffered a stroke. DAVE KIM is an international electric violinist and DJ. He started studying classical piano and violin since the age of 4 and has been playing for 42 years. He was the concert master of his high school orchestra and competed in state solo competitions in Nevada. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area from Reno/Tahoe during the dot com boom and started collaborating with singer/song writer Chris Clouse at a sushi joint in the Marina District called MasSake. He joined Clouse’s band with Whitesnake bassist Uriah Duffy, drummer Brandon Davis and guitarist Jesse Brewster. They frequented local Bay Area bars such as the Red Devil Lounge, Slims, Bimbos, Tongue and Groove, Sweetwater, American Music Hall, The Viper Room in Los Angeles and the Bitter End in New York. Their first big break was opening for Hootie and The Blowfish at the State Theater in Modesto where they released the album Trace Elements. They also shared the stage with Dishwalla, Marcy Playground, Everclear and Third Eye Blind. They began to collaborate with Bay Area legend DJ Solomon, Dave’s DJ mentor, and took their live act into all of the biggest dance clubs from San Francisco to Las Vegas which landed a them a gig with DJ AM & Travis Barker of Blink 182  at Mezzanine. Dave began his solo career collaborating with Bay Area DJ’s such as Donovan, Hector Garza, Ean Golden, David Carvalho, Zhaldee, E-Rock, Trevor Simpson, and Whitenoize. He has also shared the stage with international DJ’s such as Kaskade, Mark Farina, DJ Dan, Diplo, Double Touch (All Day I Dream), and Steve Aoki.Dave shares his story of healing through music, and even shares some of his talents with us by playing some of his music!
