From Polio to Professional Success- Shilpa Mehta Jain’s Story is the Inspiration You Need
Most of us don’t feel beautiful enough, thin enough, curvy enough. We keep finding faults with our looks and keep comparing ourselves to the perfect images in the media. This tendency affects our mental health and can even have serious impacts in some cases. But what if someone has a condition which limits their mobility but they overcome it and do big things! We can do lots of things instead of being stuck on what we can’t change and yes this goes for everything. Shilpa Mehta Jain was diagnosed with 94% PPRP Post Polio Residual Paralysis in both the lower limbs with Scoliosis when she was just 2 months old but that hasn’t stopped her from achieving everything she aimed for. From swimming to driving, she does it independently and with dedication. She is also the CFO of Shantilal C Mehta. Shilpa and her husband have co-founded dJED Foundation, an NGO that focuses on the causes of Ecology, Education and Entrepreneurship. She has done so much despite suffering from a disability. When I asked her what term I should use when I talk about her condition, she said it doesn’t matter. Disabled, differently abled, specially abled or anything else, such labels don’t matter to her because she is more than that. Tune in for today’s dose of inspiration.dJED Foundation- https://www.djed.in/Shownotes- https://maitrisconfetti.com/120/Connect with @littlefixespodcast on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/littlefixespodcast/ Email me- littlefixespodcast@gmail.comDisclaimer- This podcast is only for educational and entertainment purposes. Trigger Warning- The episode contains references to sexual abuse, substance abuse, violence and fire. Please use your discretion before listening.Every time I open Instagram these days, the word ‘trauma’ comes in front of me at least once. In Pop Psychology, many inconveniences are termed as traumatising and a host of responses are termed as trauma responses. We need to understand that not every distress is trauma and not every response is a trauma response.I have Shini Sahni with me who is a mental well-being and mental fitness coach. She has worked as a psychotherapist for over 17 years. Shini is the founder of Nu-Re Wellness which focuses on preventive mental healthcare. She will tell us--What trauma is and what it’s not-How overusing the term impacts the society negatively-What is childhood trauma-How to recognize trauma in kids-Why we shouldn’t worry unnecessarily about traumatising our kids-What are some better ways of describing feelings which are not traumaConnect with Shini Sahni- https://www.linkedin.com/in/shini-sahni/ (shinisahni@gmail.com)Shownotes- https://maitrisconfetti.com/110/Connect with @littlefixespodcast on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/littlefixespodcast/ Email me- littlefixespodcast@gmail.comDisclaimer- This podcast is only for educational and entertainment purposes. How to Put an End to Mom Guilt and Create Better Boundaries with Kids- Clinical Psychologist Prachi S. Vaish- 108
We mothers have a lot on our plates and are prone to feeling that we don’t give enough time to our kids. I work from home, do only what’s essential in terms of chores but still am unable to give just 30 minutes of undistracted time everyday to my daughter. Even if I am with her, I am constantly thinking about what needs to be done- work, podcast, chores. When I play with her, I feel that I don’t teach her and when I teach her, I feel that we could be having fun.I also feel dissatisfied by my husband’s contribution in parenting and feel that he can do more. And because I feel so much guilt, I am too lenient with Idhaya sometimes and too strict at others so we don’t have proper boundaries.Though some amount of guilt might be ok as it motivates us to do better but many of us have a lot of it. This might overwhelm us and feelings might come out in an unexpected way.In this episode, Clinical psychologist Prachi S Vaish will help us in managing this feeling. Prachi is a relationship and trauma therapist and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Prachi will tell us about--mom-guilt and mom-shaming-how shaming ourselves affects our mental health-how to overcome the feelings of guilt and shame-how to create healthy boundaries with kids-how to have better understanding with our spouse in terms of parentingConnect with Prachi S. Women’s Representation in Indian Ads- A Discussion Ft. Relina D’Silva, Upliance- 107

Women’s Representation in Indian Ads- A Discussion Ft. Relina D’Silva, Upliance- 107
Recently, I was talking to a friend about the cringeworthy ads for men’s deos. Everyone knows that no one becomes a girl-magnet by wearing a deo but such ads are still common. Another type of cringeworthy ads are the ones where certain products like baby products, kitchen appliances etc. are marketed towards women only. I wanted to discuss this with an expert so I found someone who has been in the marketing industry since last 14 years. And being a feminist, I couldn’t wait till the 20th to release this interview cum discussion episode so this episode isn’t a solo even though it’s releasing on the 5th of April. We are going to talk about women’s representation in ads and how certain products are marketed only towards them. I have Relina D’silva who is the head of marketing at Up⤴️. Up⤴️sits at the intersection of smart connected devices and everyday living. They have recently launched an innovative AI based kitchen assistant DelishUp. If you have seen the marketing of kitchen appliances, you must have noticed that it’s mostly the woman cooking and the man is there to buy the appliance and to validate her work. Such ads don’t make sense in today’s time and it’s time for a change.Having been in marketing for so long, Relina has seen all of this closely and has tried to bring a change. In this episode, I and Relina are talking about--why are such archaic ads being made even today-how does women’ representation in media affects society and vice-versa-what we consumers can do to bring a changeFind Out More about Up⤴️ - https://www.upliance.ai/Up⤴️ on Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/upliance.ai/Shownotes- https://maitrisconfetti.com/107/Music Credit- Epidemic SoundConnect with @littlefixespodcast on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/littlefixespodcast/ Email me- littlefixespodcast@gmail.comDisclaimer- This podcast is only for educational and entertainment purposes. Perimenopause- How to Support Your Body in Your 30s and 40s- Dr. Esha Chainani- 104
Today we are talking about our physical health and the topic is Perimenopause. Perimenopause- I heard the word for the first time on the Netflix show Workin’ Moms in 2022 at the age of 36 years. I googled it then and understood a bit.We might have heard and joked about mood swings, hot flashes and more but not many of us understand this phase of our lives. Perimenopause mostly starts in late 40s or early 50s but in some women it begins in late 30s too. Because most of us are in our 30s, I thought that it’s an essential Women’s Health topic to discuss on Little Fixes. Perimenopause can last for a few months or for a few years depending on your body. Due to a lot of hormonal changes, it’s essential that we learn about it and prepare our body to deal with this phase. To discuss Perimenopause, I have Dr. Esha Chainani with me. Dr. Esha Chainani is a Non-judgemental Gynaecologist making health, reproductive education and sex-ed easily accessible through her platform Premaa health. She practices at Surya hospital in Mumbai. She will tell us-What’s PerimenopauseDo we need to see a doctor for itHow to deal with changes in our bodyHow to support our body for our healthConnect with Dr. Esha Chainani- https://www.instagram.com/premaahealth/Shownotes- https://maitrisconfetti.com/104/Music Credit- Epidemic SoundConnect with @littlefixespodcast on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/littlefixespodcast/ Email me- littlefixespodcast@gmail.comDisclaimer- This podcast is only for educational and entertainment purposes.
