The night between 30 June and 1 July 1934 forever marked Hitler's definitive rise to command of Germany. That night a bloody purge occurred which culminated in the killing of ERNST ROHM, head of the SA, the brown shirts loyal to Hitler. From that night, and thanks to subsequent events, darkness fell on Germany, a long night that lasted 11 years, until the end of the Second World War.
