#EU4Youth Podcast: good practices on standards for career guidance and career education programmes from Austria and Lithuania

As the EU4Youth Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship team intends to record audio podcasts for stakeholders such as PES, youth-related ministries, and others, the purpose is to collect, consolidate and present good practices from the EU and international standards for career guidance and career education programs and services for candidate, potential candidate countries and other countries of the Eastern partnership region. This podcast aims to explore the challenges and key milestones for candidate countries in the area of career guidance.

Within the framework of this episode, we will present consolidated good practices on standards for career guidance and career education programmes and services from EU member states including skills assessments, advice, information, development of job search skills, mentoring, counselling, networking, job placement and career education.

Currently EU4Youth team collected experiences from PES Austria and PES Lithuania. On top to the general outline of the career guidance process in above mentioned countries, the project team asked three questions:

·        In Question 1, the team is interested in knowing about the Austrian and Lithuanian experience with introducing career guidance modules as a part of qualifications for social and youth workers. This information will help in understanding how career guidance is being integrated into the qualifications of these professionals in Austria and Lithuania and how it is benefiting the youth.

·        Question 2 focuses on the training organized by PES Lithuania and PES Austria to enhance its cooperation with NGOs, social and youth workers/organizations on career guidance. This question seeks to understand how PES Lithuania and PES Austria are building capacity among these stakeholders to provide better career guidance services to the youth.

·        Finally, in Question 3, the team wants to know how PES Lithuania and PES Austria reach young NEETs and any examples of successful initiatives in this area. This information will help in understanding how PES Lithuania and PES Austria are addressing the needs of this group of youth who are not in education, employment, or training.
