The Big 12 Board of Directors has unanimously approved the addition of Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and University of Utah to the conference, expanding its membership to 16 institutions starting from the 2024-25 academic year.

Commissioner Brett Yormark expressed excitement about the inclusion of these premier institutions, emphasizing their academic and athletic excellence. He stated, "We are thrilled to welcome Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah to the Big 12. The Conference is gaining three premier institutions both academically and athletically, and the entire Big 12 looks forward to working alongside their presidents, athletic directors, student-athletes, and administrators."

With the addition of Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah, the Big 12 Conference now boasts a diverse and formidable lineup of member schools, including Baylor, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. This expansion not only enhances the conference's competitiveness but also strengthens its academic and athletic profile, positioning it as a powerhouse in collegiate sports.
