Episode 12: Are The Addams Family Latino?
Hello and welcome back to the ULTRA-RARE haunted podcast! In Episode 12, I ponder whether or not the Addams Family are latinos. In this solo-episode I talk about Latinos in Horror, why many Latinos LOVE the genre, and of course, I discuss the potential latinidad of la Familia Addams. The Addams Family first debuted in a comic strip by Cartoonist Charles Addams. By the way, the you may be hearing in the background throughout this episode is an authentic rainstorm. I hope it gives you "haunted vibes" and isn't too obnoxious. Here are links for some of the topics, shows and movies that I made reference to in this episode: Photo of Catherine Zeta Jones as Morticia Jenna Ortega Filmography Over the Garden Wall (Watch on HBOmax) What we do in the shadows (Watch on Hulu) Harvey Guillen (@HarveyGuillen on Instagram) Read about the legend of La Llorona here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Llorona Goosebumps - 90s TV series (Watch on Netflix) Latinos Love Horror article (NPR) https://www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2015/10/31/452298992/why-latinos-heart-horror-films George A Romero (imdb) Robert Rodriguez (imdb) Guillermo Del Toro (imdb) Los Espookys (Watch on HBOmax) Julio Torres' stand-up on HBO: https://www.hbo.com/movies/my-favorite-shapes-by-julio-torres The Platform (Netflix) The Devil's Backbone (HBOmax) Veronica (Netflix) The House at The End of Time (free on Peacock, Vudu) Aterrados (Shudder) The Eye (HBOmax) Ding dong, the witch is back.  I brought the witching hour back this episode. Episode 10: Real Life is Terrifying
It’s episode 10! Let’s get real! In this episode we’re talking about the absolute horror show that is reality. Please be forewarned that episode 10 comes with a content warning. While discussing real-world horrors, we touch upon some potentially triggering topics including r*pe and ch*ld d**th. Please skip this episode if you think this episode might be too much for you. We’ll have something more entertaining and less intense for you on the next episode. We are constantly turning a blind eye to the terrors of the real world. It might be the only way to live a happy life. In episode 10, we look our real-world fears in the face, and acknowledge the fact that safety is an illusion that we collectively accept. It is a necessary buy-in that allows us to get through the day with a little bit of peace. Join me and my good friend Beck as we discuss our own experiences with home invasions, and talk about how that kind of violation influences your overall sense of safety and security, even after the fact. If you need a pallet cleanser, listen to Three Little Birds… how I forgot the song title to a song this famous is beyond me, but here’s the link, in case you need it: Three Little Birds (YouTube) In this episode I also refer to a couple of very upsetting news stories. If you’re curious, you can read about those stories in more detail here: 5-year-old boy killed by Neighbor in North Carolina Texas Girl Plays Dead For Hours As Man With AK-47 Murders Her Entire Family ‘For Fun’ Realistic Horror Movies that I Mentioned in Episode 10 (and where to watch them): The Strangers Available to Buy ($10) or Rent ($4) on All Major Streaming Platforms (Not available to watch for free as of Sept. 20, 2020) The Strangers Prey at Night Available to Buy ($10) or Rent ($4) on All Major Streaming Platforms (Available to watch for free on Prime Video as of Sept. 20, 2020) Hush Available to Stream on Netflix Carriers Available to Buy ($10) or Rent ($3) on All Major Streaming Platforms (Available to watch for free with ads on Tubi as of Sept. 20, 2020) Contaigion (Not Mentioned but Timely in 2020) Available to Buy ($10) or Rent ($4) on All Major Streaming Platforms (Available to watch for free on HBO Max as of Sept. 20, 2020) Green Room Available to Buy ($13) or Rent ($4) on All Major Streaming Platforms (Available to stream on Netflix as of Sept. 20, 2020)
Episode 9: Randonautica

Episode 9: Randonautica
This episode is all about Randonautica, a new quantum adventuring app created by Joshua Lengfelder & Auburn salcedo that's powered by RNG. As more and more randonauts share their experiences online, a common creepy thread ties them all together.   Is Randonautica something akin to a modern day Ouija board, or is it simply randomized coordinates? The creators insist that these adventures can be influenced by our own fears and intentions. Is that what is causing so many users to report having terrifying experiences while using the app?   From the website RANDONAUTICA.COM: “The Randonautica app puts the user in the Director's Chair of an adventure story yet to be written. By using the app, the user can break from their mundane day-to-day and take a journey of randomness into the world around them. Your mind is your guide as you observe and view the world differently. Traveling into the unknown is a journey like no other! Break out of your reality tunnel, re-calibrate your mind and have fun on an adventure into the world you never knew existed. Welcome, Future Randonaut!” What is RNG? RNG provided by Australian National University [ANU] in their lab: "This website offers true random numbers to anyone on the internet. The random numbers are generated in real-time in our lab by measuring the quantum fluctuations of the vacuum. The vacuum is described very differently in the quantum mechanical context than in the classical context. Traditionally, a vacuum is considered as a space that is empty of matter or photons. Quantum mechanically, however, that same space resembles a sea of virtual particles appearing and disappearing all the time. This result is due to the fact that the vacuum still possesses a zero-point energy. Consequently, the electromagnetic field of the vacuum exhibits random fluctuations in phase and amplitude at all frequencies. By carefully measuring these fluctuations, we are able to generate ultra-high bandwidth random numbers." the ANU Quantum Random Numbers Server can be accessed online. https://qrng.anu.edu.au More links about Randonautica: https://medium.com/@TheAndromedus/randonauting-for-dummies-how-to-hack-reality-with-your-phone-using-quantum-randomness --- this one has visuals explaining voids and attractors reddit.com/r/randonauts https://psychicbabes.com/new-blog/2020/6/23/randonautica-app-is-this-changing-our-timelines-as-we-speak https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/randonaut
