Yoga for Public Speaking with Margie Newman
Listen to Margie Newman introduce a new way to address the challenges of public speaking and guide you to a new level of calm and control. Here's a list of the books she mentions in the episode: Breath, by James NestorThe Oxygen Advantage, by Patrick McKeownThe Breathing Book: Good Health and Vitality Through Essential Breath Work, by Donna Farhi Margie Newman is an event creative director, speechwriter, speaking coach, and Kripalu-certified RYT® 500 yoga and meditation teacher who is deeply interested in the science and neuroscience of yoga. Her yoga and meditation teachings emphasize breath awareness as a path to mind-body connection, stress relief, and getting out of one’s own way. Margie first came to yoga over 20 years ago for the movement practice, and then stayed for the mind-body connection. Her curiosity about how yoga and meditation could change our nervous systems in profound ways led her to study how ancient yoga texts and practices align with modern neuroscience. As a creative director and speaker coach for large events, Margie incorporates pranayama (yogic breathwork) and meditation to help speakers overcome fear and anxiety related to public speaking. Through these practices, she empowers speakers to find a more calm, confident presence on stage. Margie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Media Communications from University of Missouri Saint Louis, and Master’s Degree in English and Theory Writing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She has received multiple Emmy, Telly, and Aurora awards as a producer and writer for public television programming and for her work on independent documentary films (1999-2011). She lives in Chicago. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/learninglaminex/message
Hacking happiness at work with Lisa Leong

Hacking happiness at work with Lisa Leong
In this show we are exploring ways to be happier at work with Lisa Leong. “Lisa Leong is smart and funny and short – the triple threat!” - Jacinta Parsons, Afternoons, ABC Radio Melbourne. Lisa presents "Sundays with Lisa Leong" on ABC Radio Melbourne and hosts "This Working Life" on ABC Radio National. She has co-authored with Monique Ross the book This Working Life: How to Navigate Your Career in Uncertain Times. A former Intellectual Property, Technology and Wine lawyer (yes, there is such a thing!), Lisa caught the radio bug in 2001. After graduating from the radio program at the Australian Film Television and Radio School, Lisa did a stint on commercial radio stations Hot Tomato on the Gold Coast and SA.FM in Adelaide, before joining the ABC presenting the breakfast show for the air Peninsula in South Australia. After the birth of her daughter, Lisa returned to her hometown Melbourne. Lisa draws on her unique career experiences combined with Design Thinking and mindfulness practices to bring a fresh approach to conversations and connection. Her work has been the subject of a Harvard Law case study, received numerous awards, and inspired Lisa's TEDx Melbourne talk “Can robots make us more human?” Described widely in narrow circles as "Asian Aussie Oprah meets (former) SBS' Jenny Brockie", Lisa's superpowers are curiosity, creativity and delivering key messages by way of song. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/learninglaminex/message
