The CWB Association Welding Podcast

17-02-2023 • 1 hr 10 mins

The CWB Association brings you a weekly podcast that connects to welding professionals around the world to share their passion and give you the right tips to stay on top of what’s happening in the welding industry.

On today's episode we are celebrating Black History Month with special guests, Sattina Dabb, Juno Kiezer, and Ruqaiyah Abdu-Allah; welding apprentices from Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Sattina, Juno, and Ruqaiyah took a chance on the Pathways to Shipbuilding Program and share their experiences and advice for African Nova Scotians to enter the shipbuilding industry.

The Pathways to Shipbuilding Program is offered through the Irving Shipbuilding Centre of Excellence with NSCC and the Africadian Empowerment Academy to provide African Nova Scotian students the opportunity to build a lasting welding career in shipbuilding. The program integrates education, industry, and community partnerships to develop a model that successfully creates pathways for African Nova Scotians students in a culturally-sensitive environment, with Black teachers and bringing Afric-centric perspectives to the classroom.
