I Remember

I Remember
I remember – I was a shy young brideStepping into a new threshold of lifeThis day today of twenty yearsWas filled with apprehension and fearsSong on my lips and stars in my eyesDreaming of the beginning of some beautiful ties.I remember – the first time you held my handWe are as if in heaven and not on this landDeeply lost in each other’s eyesOblivious to the world’s shouts or cries.I remember – like all young people in loveHad lots to discover and to discussOver each other we would make so much fussThe world seemed to end if one got cross.I remember – the now silly quarrels and small tiffsThey added spice to a sometimes dull bitExpectations run high when we are very youngTempers volatile with sometimes sharp tongueBut the joy of making up was ever so greatIt made up for the tensions the quarrels would create.I remember – your reaction to our first bornToo nervous to hold but so proud when toldThat you were the father of this new bornYour eyes were misty and looks forlorn.I remember – for the second your pacing back and forthWondering why the doctor was not yet broughtWhen the cry of your son finally heardWith sheer joy you went berserk. What can we ask from God todayWhen he has given all without our sayOur greatest treasure our sons todayPlease God continue to bless them also we pray.Lead us on with your kindly lightTo do good deeds and reach great heightsWe have no cause to fret or worryToddy on our twentieth anniversaryYet another milestone in the lifeOf any husband and his wife.Twenty years of being togetherNeeds to put our cap a featherTwo decades it is todayBut I still remember allAs only just yesterday.

My Darling Son Jasjeev
Twenty-one years ago on this dayYou came into this world my sonBringing with you the joy and ecstasyWhich only parents are privileged to enjoyWith the arrival of their first bundle of joy.Your birthday bringsSo many sentimental thoughtsTo mind-like what a pleasure it has beenTo watch you grow intoThe kind and thoughtful person you are. There’s a special kind of beautyDeep inside the heart of youBecause the precious love of GodIs such a part of youThe things you do and sayAll show His kind and loving touchThat is why a son like you will always mean so much. From the moment you were bornI felt such happiness in knowingI had brought someone wonderful into this worldFor this to dear God I am grateful beyond measureTo have been given the gift of this priceless jewel – such a treasure. From adolescence to adulthood, you have progressedWith visions of the future and all that is bestDreams and ambitions play now a great roleWith zeal and enthusiasm you work for your goal. You are now ready to unfold your wingsTo fly into the beautiful blue skiesOur love would not bind youNor our needs hold youFor you live in the house of tomorrow. You are the arrow that has to flyMay we be the bow that is stableMay we remain the strength you relyEven when old, frail and feeble.May God bless you, with everything he deems bestHonesty, Generosity, Success, Happiness and the restMay you retain the child-like innocenceWith freshness of dew-drops and the flowers’ fragrance.Thinking of you lovinglyAs this big day appearsThinking too of all the joyYou have brought throughout the yearsHoping your most special dreamsWill one and all come trueAnd there will be lots of happinessWith all of God’s blessings over you.
My Grown Up Child

My Grown Up Child
It seems only yesterdayThat you were a babe in my armsMy very special toy, a cute little bundle of joyOblivious to the world, gentle and mildBut today you are a grown up young man, my child.Cries and wails, screams and fearsAll still clearly ring in my earsThe tantrums you threw for things you could not findThose and much more are still fresh in my mind. The little pranks you playedThe pleasure in the pain you gaveSometimes those naughty impish smilesNext the tempers went really wildAnd today you are a grown-up young man, my child. You have now come of ageSo, your freedom we can no longer cageInto the beautiful blue skies you would like to flyFearless and free, by the fates profiledFor today you are a grown-up young man, my child. With pride and joy we will seeYou take your first step to successYour dreams fulfilled and doubts laid to restSon, it has been wonderfulSharing your dreams and watching you grow.Feeling such pride in your accomplishments and moreWith zeal and zest, never to be beguiledFor today you are a grown-up young man, my child.Today on this very special dayWith love, I wish you and fervently prayThat all the things you hope forAnd all the things you doMay very special happiness be waiting for youMay God always bless you and have you in his careMay he fulfill every wish and answer every prayer. The beautiful memories of your childhoodI will always love and treasureThe joy of which is beyond any measureTo the world today you may be “grown-up”Perhaps smart and even cleverBut to me you will always be my “little child” forever.

To My Grandchildren
When you my three little grandsons came with me to stayWe had lots of fun and games to playFull of smiles and all the rushEndless questions and hair to brushLots of laughter, lots of gamesLittle pranks, funny names.A day with grandkids restores the soulEnergizes the mind and body on the wholeIt gives me immense pleasure when you all sit beside meHope as I get older you will sometimes keep me companyYou know I love you all, more with each passing dayTo spoil you is also showing you love my way.Let me love you a little moreBefore you are not little anymoreI used to hold your Dad; kiss and hug him tooThe same way as today he does to youHe could not remain a baby; he had to grow upSo God created you beautiful grandkids to fill the great gap.I treasure the special bond we have between usThe love we share and the secrets we discussHow lonely my world would be without youYou will and should never have a clueAll I can say that to the moon and backIs how much I love you.Children of my childFull of fun and little wildNostalgic to see my little son in you againMemories of his childhood all then just beginYour smiles bridge the years between usFeel young again discovering the world throughyour eyes as such.I visualize the future in youYou will learn from me of the pastIn the present let us love one anotherAs long as these times last. There are times when some grandkids we cannot meetSeeing them would then be a God-sent treatWould long to give them all a loving hugThe one that feels so warm and snugA prayer for all my grandkids will be on my lips alwaysWhether we meet or have to part ways.I thank the good Lord for blessing my sonsWith children for whom my love is in abundanceI pray you watch over and protect them day and nightGive them the courage to stand for what is rightThen when I am gone, here no moreRemind them my love for them is forever and ever more.
