Jenelle has a wealth of knowledge around the topic of STIs and has made it her mission to de-stigmatise STIs and provide adequate and effective education around sexual health. Having been diagnosed with herpes herself at a young age, she has insight into the struggles and challenges associated with lifelong STIs. In this ep we discuss the struggles of life we all have, including navigating the dating world, having open conversations and being vulnerable and the effect that throwing anything else difficult into the mix, can have on your sense of self. Every single person can gain something from this interview and the information Jenelle shares with us can be used in all our lives to create a more understanding, less judgmental and more accepting world for all of us to flourish and grow. We place so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect, when in reality, none of us are. Sharing vulnerability is power and will unlock so much more from your life that you ever thought possible. Nikita was diagnosed at the young age of 17 with androgenic alopecia after a ‘you’re balding’ comment by a family member. This led to a variety of tests which came to the conclusion of an alopecia diagnosis. Through years of navigating this condition, attempting to ‘cure’ it with medications, dyes, powders and even witch doctors to try and avoid her hair from balding further, Nikita had reached the stage in her life to decide to buy a topper wig. We love how vulnerable Nikita is during this episode and her positive outlook on her situation. She talks about navigating dating, being open and honest about her condition and what led her into making the decision to talk about this on a public platform such as tik tok! She has since has 3.2 million views on tik tok since sharing! We are so proud of her! Her new ‘Sophia’ wig has become an incredible addition to her everyday life. Here we are again, bringing some flavour to your FRI-YAY! This is one hell of a story, and it might sound a bit familiar! We interviewed Chen and heard her incredible story back in January 2022. The episode was called “Just hold on – my one legged life, with Chen”, we suggest you have a listen. She lost her leg in a horrific car accident in January 2021 and has gone through a whirlwind of emotions, growth, surgeries, pills and all. Most famous quote of Chens is “just waiting on meds” and that is what most of 2021/2022 has been for this gal! She has gone through a huge journey in the 10 months since we last spoke and is having an incredible procedure called osseointegration.  It involves inserting a prosthetic implant into the bone of an amputee to which an external prosthetic can attach directly. It’s a fascinating procedure, and Chen is doing an incredible job during this journey. We are so proud of Chen, and love keeping up with her life updates. She has the most radiant smile, most incredible mindset and positivity throughout this journey, but is still human at the end of the day and will openly talks about the real struggles of the journey. Join us for some Friday flavour, as we sit down with our special guest Eliza, all the way from the UK! This episode is all about Eliza’s story with being diagnosed at the age of 12 with a heart condition, to an escalation of being told she needs a heart transplant. It’s not what a typical teenager would be dealing with in life, but Eliza not only had the pressures of school and being a normal “kid”, but she was sick, tired, and desperately needed a new heart. She felt incredibly alone during this whole process and felt there is no one that could relate to what she was going through. For Eliza it was University, or heart transplant… The waves of emotions Eliza faced gave her the strength to create her own platform to help others in her position. She had more in common with the 70-year-old on the cardiac unit within the hospital walls, than she did with teenagers her own age. She knows there are others out there that are going through a similar journey, but no community had ever been created, so that’s when “transplant chats with Eliza” begun. Eliza has worked hard created this space and even has her own podcast! During her incredible journey, and even got to meet the Queen – you gotta tune into the episode to hear all about it! For those who are medically challenged, a DCD heart is organ donation after circulatory death. This basically means, that organ donation occurs after death, where the circulation of blood has permanently stopped.
