North Carolina has been struggling with some sluggish starts in the 2023-24 postseason (3 ACC Tournament games, 2 NCAA Tournament games). For example, Carolina was down 12 to Michigan State 11:15 into the game or down 10 to NC State just 4:27 into the game. Is it cause for concern or more just a statistical outlier on a small sample size of games? Regardless of the answer, Carolina need to come out SWINGING against Alabama. They need to be tough, they need to get paint touches for Armando Bacot, get RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau to the rim, whatever is necessary.

UNC is part of a rather chalky Sweet 16. While it’s disappointing to have zero Cinderellas this weekend, it does mean that we should have high level basketball. Speaking of the Sweet 16, the ACC makes up one-fourth of it; maybe the conference was all right after all.
