S3:077 Job 31

S3:077 Job 31
In Job 31, Emma Dotter & Brent Buuemi ask the question: “How to keep up spiritual morale in dry season.” Brent compares suffering to having our face pressed against stained glass. Oftentimes we see the shattered glass and not the full picture. Brent & Emma talk to both types of listeners: those who have experienced severe suffering, and some maybe haven’t. Brent encourages us to solidify our beliefs before the trial that we experience so that when we are in the trial we are ready.   Additional Scripture in this Podcast:  Colossians 4:2, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving…” Proverbs 19:3 “When a man’s folly brings his way to ruin, his heart rages against the Lord.”  John 16:33, “In this world, you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.”  2 Timothy 3:12, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”  1 Peter 4:12, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange was happening to you.”  Daniel 3:18, “But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”  Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…” Hebrews 4:15, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin…”   Grab a NEW Join The Journey Journal for 2024: https://a.co/d/7rt0H3g  Got kids? S3:073 Job 27
How can I fight the enemy with my actions? A common question for Christians, with many different answers. Emma Dotter interviews Lucas Esteves as he gives the listeners what may feel like a simple answer, but if you are willing to truly apply this practice, it can be radical. Lucas says we are simply to “Praise the Lord.” By using additional Scriptures throughout the Bible, Lucas articulates the example of Jesus in praising God amidst all circumstances.   Additional Scriptures used in today’s podcast: Matthew 12:33-37, “for out of the abundance of the heart man speaks… I tell you on the day of judgement  Matthew 15:11, “It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.”  Job 1:21, “blessed be the name of the Lord…” Job 2:10, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak Psalm 22:1, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  Psalm 103:1-5, “Bless the Lord oh my soul, let all that is within me…” Matthew 27:46, “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, elm sabachthani?’ That is ‘My God, my God why have you forsaken me?’”  Grab a Join The Journey Journal through the book of Psalms: https://a.co/d/7rt0H3g  Got kids? We don’t just celebrate on Easter the work of Jesus, which we do. But we also celebrate the future hope that we have in the future coming of Jesus. It is so important to believe and understand that we will be delivered from ultimate death: separation from God. Whatever type of listener you are, we need Christ’s death for our sins, and we get the opportunity to follow him, if we want to!   Want to hear Hank’s Story? What does a bronze serpent on a stick have to do with Holy Week and Jesus? Sometimes in Christianity, we need symbols or symbolism to help us remember things in our faith. Emma Dotter is joined by Amie Bradley and asking the question to God: I know you have promised you’ll provide and be faithful, but why are my circumstances not reflective of your promises? Amie challenges us on the day in-between Good Friday & Easter to get our eyes up on Jesus.   Additional Scripture in our passage: Psalm 121:1-8  Want to hear more about Amie & Steve’s story! Bonus: Holy Week: Luke 23
Today’s passage discusses the unfair trial and death of Jesus. Oftentimes, believers can fly past Jesus’s death to get to the resurrection, but today Ryan Garrahan & Emma Dotter unpack how Jesus’ complete innocence can challenge believers today. There is a daily need to repeat the gospel to yourself, and Ryan challenges us to take the time to reflect on the gravity of our sin, and the full gift of salvation given to us by Jesus.   Additional Scriptures used in today’s passage: Revelation 21:8, “their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur…” 1 John 2:2, “Jesus is the propitiation for our sin.” John 11:35, “Jesus wept.”   Ryan’s Additional Podcasts: Christmas Epidode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s2-242-isaiah-7-14-luke-1-5-45/id1600151923?i=1000638296374  1 Samuel 18-19 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s2-160-1-samuel-18-19/id1600151923?i=1000624868152  Grab a NEW Join The Journey Journal for 2024: https://www.amazon.com/Thinking-Feeling-Gods-Way-Journey/dp/B0CPJ7WXN5/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2IEYKICMCV7IF&keywords=join+the+journey+watermark&qid=1702568266&sprefix=join+the+journe%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-1  Got kids?
