Welcome to the Whiskey and History podcast, I’m your host Zach Homeier. To tell you a little about myself, I am currently a Public Historian that graduated from the University of Illinois last year with a Master’s Degree in Public History. For those of you who do not know what Public History is, it is the use of historical skills and methods outside of the traditional academic realm of history. Which means history that is involved directly within your community such as parks, museums, neighborhoods, businesses, or historical societies. I am currently in Springfield which is the Capital of Illinois also known as the land of Lincoln.  Even though Springfield is overshadowed by our 16th President does not mean there isn't anything else interesting that has happened within this community and outside of it. Most of the historical topics that I am going to share with you in this show is Illinois History. I hope you guys are ready to sit back, pour yourself a cocktail and learn something new and exciting about Illinois. Cannot wait to go on this journey of history with you guys!
